Day 2: 03:00 Our crew will invite you to ride 4wd vehicle to reach the sunrise spot (Penanjakan 1, Seruni point, Kingkong hill, Love hill etc). From the point of view you will find a magnificent scenery the combination of the caldera, mount Semeru (3.676m asl) and surrounding area.
After enjoying the sunrise next destination is Mount Bromo itself which located in the middle of the caldera with the altitude about 2.329m asl. To reach Bromo’s peak there will two option by walk on easy trek or ride a horse which will save your energy for the next journey.
Mount Bromo is always smoky, and its edges are tinged with sulphur, and between the parking lot to the peak of Bromo you will pass Poten temple (Hindu temple) and then need to hike 245 stair steps then You will see the crater of Bromo at the end of it. On the right corner of the sight there is another inactive volcano called Batok (2440m) where possible to see some vegetations growing on it like fern, acinium (kind of bush that only grow in high altitude) and family of Casuarina (pine tree).
Be sure to bring long warm cloth, and the temperature can drop to between zero and five degrees Celsius in the morning when You start to enjoy the sunrise and it will getting warm when the sun rising while You exploring the Caldera and Bromo volcano itself. 08.00 Back to the hotel for wash and breakfast then preparation for transfer to tumpak sewu waterfall in 3-4h drive, Located between Lumajang and Malang regent this waterfall will gives you different sensation of nature beauty, Tumpak sewu itself means thousand flow and according to the name you will find there will not only one flow fall but many which looks like a curtain. There will be 2 option to enjoying the ambience of the waterfall by taking the sight from the point of view or by go down to the bottom of the waterfall but it will takes a longer time to access the trek and exploring the surrounding area, as we mentioned for the 2nd option we need extra energy, extra stamina and for sure extra timing means this option only takes by customized trip by additional 1N stay around the waterfall and the tour will be done on 2nd day of your arrival in Tumpak sewu area. After sightseeing then transfer to your next hotel in Jember area and overnight.
Day 3: After breakfast ready for next visit to Mangli Djaya Raya cigar factory, Mangli Djaya Raya (MDR) is an Indonesian tobacco company established in 1960. Located in Jember, East Java, MDR is committed in preserving the tobacco heritage introduced during the Dutch colonial era. The company is located in Jember, a small town in the eastern part of East java. Thi company was founded on 1960, under the company name of FA. PRAWIRO.
Along tobacco harvest season you can find hundreds of women works inside the factory which they divided into several part, like sorting process in several step, chopping department, Cigar production department and etc. Most special now they open it for public means visitors be able to see all that process.
The First cooperation with foreign country was done in 1972 with AL VAN BEEK of the Netherland, which lasting only in about 1 (one) year. Then, in 1984, MDR established another cooperation with a Dutch company named Deli Maatschappij. Again, the cooperation did not last longer than only 1 (one) year. The trek itself classify as easy to middle hike which normally need 1.5 for one way hike up by distance 3.3km to reach the peak of the crater with the altitude about 2.386m asl.
All will be worth when you arrive at the point of view from here You will enjoy a magnificent scenery, Ijen crater fill with blue green massive acid lake which contain about 32-33 million cubic meter water in it and it’s become the hugest acid lake in the world. On the left corner of the lake with the deep about 325m from point of view there is a yellow slope area called Sulfatara where miners produce bright yellow stone called Sulphur, the sulphur itself produced by sulphuric gas which blowing every seconds from the earth stomach then the miners keep the gas into the pipes for the condensation and at the other side of the pipes they just wait for some hours for the process of liquid become frozen sulphur. All were manually there are no machine or high technology, when they get the block of sulphur they will chopping it into smaller pieces to make it easier when they insert to the bamboo basket or plastic sack. They can load 60kg-100kg sulphur into the stuff then they will be transporting it just next to the parking where You start to hike. It’s one of the toughest professions in the world.
When you finish enjoy the scenery just walk down to the parking lot passing the same way when You hike in 1H then drive back to drop off You On the way to Banyuwangi there is a huge plantation produce several kind of tropical product most famous with Clove and Robusta Coffee, when You visit between April till September that will the perfect timing because so many activities to see from local people when they harvest the plantation. One moment you able to see when women climb up the clove tree only with bamboo ladder for 15mtrs or more without any safety while they pick clove flowers from each branch then when you pass another corner of the plantation you will smell a familiar aroma a bit like Jasmine flowers but the aroma were from coffee flowers at the same time you can see people harvesting the fresh coffee bean right from the tree, one of an impressive scenery.
